25 Years of Partnership:
At Gratte Brothers, we proudly support the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals (WCoSP) as a 25-Year Silver Anniversary Patron, marking a quarter of a century of remarkable achievements in the security industry. This recent achievement was twinned with supporting the WCoSP on their float at The Lord Mayor’s Show on 9th November 2024.
About the WCoSP:
Since its foundation in 1999 as the Guild of Security Professionals, the WCoSP has grown into one of the most diverse and inclusive Livery Companies in the City of London. With over 500 members from all sectors of the security industry—spanning public, private, military, and judiciary roles—the Company exemplifies excellence and collaboration.
The WCoSP’s dedication to advancing the industry is evident through initiatives like the Whittington Course, which introduces students from underprivileged backgrounds to the City of London and its opportunities. Their Charitable Trust also provides critical support for individuals in the security sector facing challenging life circumstances and funds education at schools, academies, and universities.
The WCoSP continues to make a significant impact through its initiatives, including the Whittington Course, its Charitable Trust, and its focus on fostering young talent, such as with the introduction of the Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Security Industry award.
The Lord Mayor’s Show:
The Lord Mayor’s Show traditionally welcomes the new Mayor into their first full day in office and introduces them to the people of London. Over the past 800 years, the show has evolved into a vibrant celebration of the diversity, community and culture that the City of London holds. We were proud to join this prestigious parade in support of the 696th Lord Mayor, Alastair King DL, and Lady Mayoress Florence King.
As part of the celebrations, our Commercial Director, Mike Rousell, joined the WCoSP’s commemorative float at the parade on 9th November 2024. Additionally, we were proud to receive our certificate of recognition during the Annual Dinner at Guildhall in October.
Our Managing Director, Rob Whelan commented;
“Attending the Lord Mayors Show recently was truly a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The event was extremely well organised and exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived, everybody was having a great time and all the participants in the show really engaged everyone along the parade route. This really set the tone for the whole event.
The WCoSP entrant was on an open top double deck London bus, with members of the company also walking as part of the event. This being the 25th year of the WSoSP made the event even more special and Mike Rousell from GBSM representing the Worshipful Company and GBSM was an honour.
Seeing the diverse and wide-ranging floats, bands, military and emergency service entrants was amazing and definitely kept all the crowds entertained. Not forgetting of course the new Lord Mayor in the horse-drawn golden carriage.
Overall, The Lord Mayor’s Show was a great day out, a really enjoyable experience that left me feeling privileged to be a part of the history and tradition of the Livery Companies of the City of London.
I look forward to future events like this and highly recommend it to anyone who has never attended before.”
