Since 2012, the safetyfirst@gratte logo has proudly represented our health & safety initiative. After years of dedicated service, we thought it deserved a refresh…
…Introducing the new look SafetyFirst ✨
Launching today, 6th January, the programme has undergone a meticulous update. We’ve got a new accent colour, ‘moonstone blue’, to distinguish it from our other internal initiatives and complement our Gratte Brothers navy blue. Plus, we’ve updated the font and removed the dated ‘@’ symbol let it stand alone as simply SafetyFirst.
Alongside the visual makeover, all processes, policies and functions have been reviewed and realigned with our objectives. While our objectives remain the same, our strategy has been updated to make the programme as accessible as possible to all. A reminder of our SafetyFirst objectives:
- To raise awareness of our H&S processes.
- To encourage the active participation of all of our people (including senior leadership) to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of those around them.
- Strengthen the involvement of our Senior Leadership team to bridge the gap between office and site environments.
- Provide ongoing education to employees at all levels at best practices, new development and legislative updates in order to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Monitor company statistics and risk-based process improvement initiatives using data from SafetyFirst processes to continuously improve the initiative’s performance and effectiveness.
So, what’s new? Well, our functions have been updated to integrate new technologies with the purpose of making them even more accessible. Our processes are under continual review to spot opportunities for improvement. So, while the new visual identity will remain with us for years to come, our processes, functions and policies will continue to evolve and improve. For now, our key updates to the initiative are:
- The development of our HSEQ App.
- The use of SurveyMonkey to distribute HSEQ quizzes.
- The creation of bespoke QR codes for comment cards.
Health & Safety Director, John Madgwick, commented that:
“This update to the SafetyFirst initiative serves as a reminder that for us, health & safety isn’t a tick-box exercise or something that’s left gathering dust on the shelf; it’s a priority in everything we do, day in, day out. It needed a facelift to remain relevant and the processes needed updating to embrace new technologies such as the HSEQ app, QR codes and SurveyMonkey, which all work to make the functions of SafetyFirst even more accessible for everyone, whether site or office based. We nurture an internal culture that states that health & safety is everyone’s responsibility. We protect the welfare of our staff as much as physically possible, but we also make sure that people know they need to be responsible for their own safety, and to always be looking out for others. This initiative goes a long way in raising awareness of correct procedures, the resources available, and reminding people that Safety really does always come First.”
We are gradually phasing out the old logo across the Group. As existing equipment reaches the end of its natural lifecycle, it will be replaced with newly-branded equipment. So, you might still see the old ‘safetyfirst@gratte’ logo from time to time. This is the most environmentally friendly approach to replacing assets, so we thank you for your patience during the transition from old to new. We’re looking forward to ushering in this new era of SafetyFirst, and thank you in advance for your support and collaboration in ensuring everyone stays safe at work.
