Malcolm Basker Appointed to Lead GBBSM’s New Projects Division

  • Building Services Maintenance

Gratte Brothers Building Services Maintenance (GBBSM) is delighted to announce the appointment of Malcolm Basker as Project Director, effective of 1st January 2025.

Malcolm joins the business to head up GBBSM’s new standalone Projects division, as part of a strategic long-term plan to grow the company’s project works capability. Whilst the business has successfully delivered a vast array of lifecycle plant and equipment replacement projects, including EPC plant upgrades, on behalf of its service and maintenance clients for a number of years, this appointment and the decision to create a standalone division for projects is a pivotal milestone for the business and highlights the company’s desire to grow and diversify by extending both its service offering and client base. Following Malcolm’s appointment, the business will now be able to deliver a wider variety of projects, ranging from smaller, one-off plant replacements to multi-million-pound construction projects.

Malcolm joins GBBSM from within the Gratte Brothers Group family, having previously worked for Gratte Brothers Ltd, where he spent the past 25 years delivering a range of high-profile projects. Malcolm’s experience in leading and delivering large-scale projects over that time is extensive and to name just a few, includes the delivery of shell and core electrical services for a new 5* private hospital in London as well as the replacement of M&E equipment across a portfolio of buildings in London for a multinational bank over a five-year period. Malcolm’s most recent accomplishment has been the delivery of a 30MW data centre in Slough. This wealth of experience undoubtedly equips Malcolm with the expertise required to lead our new Projects Division and in addition to his own personal expertise, he also brings a team of exceptional engineers to support the delivery of future projects.

Commenting on his new role, Malcolm said,

“I am very excited to join the GBBSM family and to help expand upon the capabilities of this already highly successful business. I am very much looking forward to this new challenge and to using my experience to lead our fantastic team in delivering the vast range of opportunities, which are available in the market. My desire is to deliver sustainable growth for GBBSM and to build a fantastic reputation for this new division, one which makes our Gratte Brothers Group family proud.”

Barney Whiting, Managing Director, commented,

I am delighted that Malcolm has joined GBBSM and the senior leadership team, to head up our new Projects Division. His experience of delivering construction-focused projects provides a unique selling point for the business and his expertise provides an enhanced scalability to our already successful project works capability, allowing us to work with a range of new and existing clients for whom we can offer a greater variety of projects. The team and I look forward to seeing this new division grow and thrive in 2025 under Malcolm’s leadership and we look forward to sharing updates on our success very soon. Watch this space!
