Bannolds Supplies is one of the UK’s largest independent suppliers of natural hard landscaping materials.
Located in the Fens, the Bannolds premises comprise picturesque gardens which creatively showcase the wares on offer. Here, the owners were able to transplant an entire railway station (complete with carriages, a waiting room and a signal box) to provide a truly unique catering venue.
Involved from the outset, Gratte Brothers developed the internal fit-out of the commercial kitchen which was located in a refurbished goods wagon. A Rationale combi-steamer was installed, as well as under counter refrigeration and a Lincat range cooker and fryer. Classic stainless steel was specified for the counters, sinks, worktops and ducting.
The project was a labour of love for the client and required exacting standards. Through careful design and craftsmanship, the services were machined to fit, so there was no need to box out the functional areas of the train or shift catering to a purpose-built facility.
Bespoke canopy and ductwork shaped to fit flush with the curved carriage roof were created, the space was reconfigured to allow easy access, and exhausts were sensitively designed to match the 1920s Pullman carriage lines.
