The Co-op, with a history tracing back to 1844, is a UK consumer-owned co-operative with a diverse family of businesses spanning food – where it has around 2,600 stores – funeral care, insurance, legal and online electrical and employs over 60,000 colleagues.
Following an extensive selection process, Gratte Brothers was chosen as a security provider to the Co-op so when they acquired a Fenchurch Street location, Gratte Brothers Security Systems & Software was selected to provide the store security arrangements, using a system of pre-specified formats.
The marble fabric of the building could not be marked in any way, requiring an alternative method of camera fix. The premises were multi-tenanted meaning shared access corridors needed to be reconfigured.
With the shop fitting taking place over the course of a month, Gratte Brothers provided programmed, phased attendance over two weeks to install CCTV and intruder alarms to the shop floor, back of house and external areas.
To meet requirement, Gratte Brothers pre-commissioned all security equipment, which enabled the commissioning programme to be compressed.
The parameters for the store equipment were specified prior to installation. On handover of the system however, the Store Manager required alternative field ranges. Gratte Brothers remained on site, after the handover to the maintenance contractor, until the employees that would use the equipment were fully conversant with its operation.
