First licensed in 1394, The Salters’ Company has its origins in the salt trade of medieval London. Ranked number nine in the order of precedence, it is one of the Great 12 livery companies and today The Salters’ Company is a diverse organisation responsible for several charitable foundations, important philanthropic work in science education, and the fostering of fellowship among its members.
The current 1970s structure is the seventh hall to serve the Company, previous buildings falling to the Great Fire of London and the Blitz.
The building is spread across 10 floors; with two plant rooms which service offices, and the three function areas: the Main Hall, Court Room and Dining Room. Gratte Brothers covers critical services such as LVHV power, lighting, heating, drainage, water hygiene, fire alarms and specialist items such as the local heating network.
Given the status of the Hall as a Grade II listed building, and its constant use for high-profile events, close communication with the managing agent, the client and tenants is required when planning maintenance visits.
