Service Maintenance is one of Gratte Brothers Security Management’s (GBSM) greatest strengths. Not only do we possess the in-house capacity to design, install, replace and upgrade security systems, we have the skills internally to maintain them, too. Malcolm Bates is the Service Director for GBSM, and works between our Warrington and London offices. In our latest instalment of Powerhouse Perspectives, Malcolm shares his insights on our approach, his role and what’s next for GBSM’s Service & Maintenance team.

 

“My role as Service Director within Gratte Brothers Service and Maintenance is to provide strategic leadership to support the provision of reactive, corrective and planned preventive maintenance of electronic security systems, within the UK, Ireland and Europe. As a dedicated team we support a broad range of clients across the commercial, retail, data centre and education & healthcare verticals.”

 

Our Approach to Maintenance

Gratte Brothers Security Management takes a consultative approach to our solutions delivery. We design our service and maintenance solutions to meet the client’s requirements, minimising the operational impact whilst maximising the value-added services. GBSM can provide a range of traditional on-premises services as well as offering bespoke remote maintenance solutions which deliver a significant cost saving per annum when considering PPM activity and reactive callouts, whilst providing an elevated level of service and reduced downtime.

Malcolm’s Role

“I’ve been with GBSM for five years, and have held my current role for this period. I have the complete autonomy to run the service and maintenance business. This structure enables myself and my leadership team to have complete governance and control of the account management, sales and operational delivery. In turn, this enables us to swiftly adapt to changes in client’s requirements to ensure that we continue to provide an elevated level of service”.

Malcolm’s Professional Background

“I am an electrician by trade, having served my time for a company which undertook a range of installations from residential, commercial, and industrial, providing me with a wealth of experience within different sectors. After a couple of periods of self-employment, I had gained a vested interest in fire and security systems. To this end, I moved into employment with an electronic fire and security provider and moved from an Engineering role to Project Management, Regional Management, Head of Operations and then into Service Directorship”.

Pursuing Improvement, Always.

In line with our core value, Malcolm strives to always underline his capability academically. To this end he’s undertaken a number of leadership and management courses from the ILM and Coventry University. His most recent achievement being from the Liverpool John Moores University, having been awarded a Masters of Business Administration in Business Leadership with Merit.

Industry Forecast

“With the ever-evolving geopolitical situation, it stands to reason that we increasingly need to analyse risk and shape the solutions GBSM can provide in response. To this end, I will be participating in a terrorism and counter terrorism course with a focus on upcoming legislation. I feel that increasing knowledge within this area can only add value to our service offering and make us best placed to provide guidance and solutions for the challenges that our clients may face”.

What’s Next For GBSM’s Service & Maintenance?

Alongside the pipeline of clients, Gratte Brothers Security Management is currently in the process of mobilising a new CAFM system to be deployed business wide. The anticipated improvements from the deployment of the SimPro software include – Speed, Quality, Dependability, Flexibility & Cost. In summary, SimPro can drive faster, higher quality, more reliable service delivery while also providing the flexibility to meet changing requirements – all at a lower overall cost. The software enhances visibility, productivity, asset utilisation and data-driven management, enabling us to provide an elevated service to our client base.
